How to Make Money With Fanvue: Is It The New OnlyFans?

Fanvue is a new social media platform where creators can connect with their fans. Like OnlyFans, Fanvue allows creators to create an account and set a monthly subscription fee for anyone who wants access to their premium content.

Creators get to keep 85% of their earnings, whilst the remaining 15% goes back to the platform. In this post we’ll look at Fanvue, its features, how to create an account and how it works.

Fanvue is a fast growing platform, already valued at over £21 Million, could this platform be the next OnlyFans?

Getting started

Fanvue is a subscription based social media site and creators can post content to their feed including:

  • Photos
  • Text posts
  • Videos

You can create a Fanvue account for a wide range of content, from music, fitness and entertainment, to even adult content.

If you’re looking for ideas, here are genres you can consider when creating your Fanvue account:

  • Vlog (for music artists, entertainers, influencers etc.)
  • Gaming content
  • Adult content
  • Cooking and recipes
  • Comedy
  • Courses (financial, fitness, any unique skill you have)
  • Life coaching
  • Exclusive ad-free content for YouTuber’s (Patreon alternative)

Fanvue Overview

Before going through the account setup process, let’s have a quick look at Fanvue’s features and how it works.

As you can see in the photo above, Fanvue has a wide range of features available to creators. Below we’ll take a closer look at each feature:

On the right side of the screen you can see you the “Insights” module. This shows you your earnings in the last seven days, it also splits your earnings between subscriptions, pay per view, tips and resubs so you know exactly where to focus your efforts on.

If you want a more detailed view of your insights, go to the left sidebar and click on the “Insights” tab. Here you can view your earnings for today, the past week, the past month, the last 3 months and your total earnings.

It also comes with a detailed graph to visualise your earnings on the platform, allowing you to identify the strongest earnings periods.

This is especially important since a lot of content genres are seasonal and not evergreen.

This graph will make it easier for you to see which periods are the most profitable so you can double down and increase your earnings during those times.

On the left side tab you’ll see the “Discover” page, right under the “Home” page. Clicking on this tab will take you to a discovery page where you can view and search for other Fanvue creators.

This is similar to Instagrams discover feature and it will help new users to gain subscribers without having to worry about marketing their account in the early stages.

On Fanvue’s discover page you can also scroll other creators’ free promotional intro videos, similar to TikTok where fans can easily see what a creator has to offer visually.

Your written bio will also be visible, making it easy for new fans to follow, subscribe, message and tip you directly from viewing your intro video.

The notifications tab keeps you up to date with your subscriptions, followers, tips, purchases, comments and likes. You can also change your notification settings here.

The messages tab lets you send and receive messages on the platform, you can also send out mass pay per view messages to your fans to increase your earning potential.

The Vault is a section where you can upload multiple pieces of content all at once.

The queue tab shows you any content that you have scheduled for a later date.

The fans tab lets you view your fans.

The profile tab lets you view your profile, edit your profile, view insights and create a promotion to encourage new subscribers.

The settings page lets you manage your account details, security, payout details, intro video and more.

Post to your profile

Right at the bottom is the “New Post” button, allowing you to post content to your feed.

Attach pictures and videos to your post

Add multimedia to your post such as images or videos.

Add a price to your post

You can price lick your posts, meaning that your fans need to pay to see it.

Promotional Video

Fanvue lets creators create a promotional intro video that anyone can see, whether they have subscribed to your page or not. To do this, go to “Settings” then click on “Intro Video”. We’ll go into this in more detail later in this post.

This is not even the complete list of features since Fanvue has some new additions planned for 2022 including:

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT’s)

Fanvue will enable creators to mint and sell NFT’s to their fans, this allows users to make money in two ways while providing their fans with utility to access additional and exclusive NFT holder privileges:

  1. Make money from the mint price (price users pay to mint the NFT’s)
  2. Make money from secondary sales (receive a royalty payment everytime an NFT is sold by its current owner)

Setup your Fanvue account

Go to the Fanvue website and you can sign up via email or your social media accounts. To sign up via email, click on “Sign Up” underneath the login section.

You can also sign up quickly using your Twitter or Google account by clicking on “Sign in with Twitter” or “Sign in with Google”.

If you’re signing up via email, click on “Sign Up” and on the next page add your email address and create a strong password. You’ll have to confirm your password too.

Next, accept the terms and conditions by clicking the checkbox.

Once you have created your Fanvue profile, you’ll be taken to the home page. The next step here is to choose whether you want to “Become a creator” or “Subscribe to a creator”.

I assume most of you reading this want to sell content so click on “Become a creator”.

This will take you to the next page where you need to click on “Become a creator” again. You can also find this page by going to “Settings” on the left sidebar and scrolling down to the “Creator” section.

If you intend to share adult content click on “YES” if not click on “NO”, you wll not be able to change this later.

The next step is to verify your ID, you can use a driver’s licence or passport for this. I recommend doing this step on your phone since it will be easier.

Once you’ve followed all the steps you can edit your profile. Go to “Profile” on the left side sidebar and click on it.

Next click on “Edit profile” once you reach your profile. On the edit profile page make the following changes:

  • Choose a name
  • Choose a username
  • Add a bio
  • Change the banner (cannot be explicit)
  • Choose a profile photo (cannot be explicit)

Once you are done click “Save”.

Now your profile is set up.

The next step is to add your bank account so you can get paid. After that we’ll set a subscription price for the account.

Add a bank account to earn money

To start earning money as a Fanvue creator you need to add your bank details to your Fanvue account. To do this go to “Settings”, then scroll down to “Payout Details (to earn)”.

Once there, fill in your details including your billing address and bank account details:

  • Account type (Individual or Business)
  • Bank name,
  • IBAN,
  • SWIFT code,
  • Sort code
  • Account number.

Once you’re done, click “Save”.

Set a subscription price

Now that you have added your bank details, the next step is to add a subscription price to your profile.

To do this, click on “Settings” then click on “Creator settings”. This will take you to a page where you can set a subscription price and offer a promotion for new subscribers.

You also have the option to make yourself discoverable to other users. This option will cause your profile to show up on the “Discover” page, making it easier for other Fanvue users to find your profile.

The final option on this page is the option to blur your paid content content. This option is up to you but I think it’s best to leave your paid content unblurred, users are more likely to pay for something if they know what they’re going to get.

Once you’re done, click “Save”.

Making money on Fanvue

Now that your Fanvue account is fully setup, you can start posting content to your profile. To do this, click on “New Post” at the bottom of the left side bar.

You have multiple options when posting content to your feed:

  • Vault – The photo icon leads to your vault where you can choose pre-uploaded content to post.
  • Upload – The next icon is to upload a picture or video
  • Expiration – The hourglass icon lets you set a time limit for your post, after that time your post will disappear. You can also set No Limit (the default option) to keep it up for as long as you like.
  • Schedule – The calendar icon lets you schedule your posts to be automatically posted to your profile at a later time or date.
  • Free or Paid Post – The dollar sign icon is for setting a price on your post

Add your content, add a caption and click “Post” once you’re ready.

Sell Pay Per View Content

Price locked content is a great way to make additional money on Fanvue. You can pay a subscription fee for your account and post your regular content to your feed.

You can then supplement this content with additional, exclusive price locked content. Be careful with this approach however, it is best used on free or lower price accounts (under $10). You don’t want to nickel and dime your fans into unsubscribing from your profile.

Another great way to make money with pay per view content is through the messages, which is what we’ll look at next.

Sell more content using the messages feature

The best way to make money from pay per view content is by sending out mass messages to your fans with exclusive photos or videos. This world because this content is separate from the content on your feed so it creates a psychological separation of both content types.

You can also ask fans for custom content requests. For example a fan might ask you to make a 5 minute video of a specific recipe they want to learn how to cook. You can then negotiate a price (i.e $20) and create the video.

Next, upload the video to Fanvue, message your fan and include the video in the message with a price of $20 and send it. Now you’ve just sold a 5 minute instructional cooking video to your fan for $20!

Make more money by asking for tips

Don’t be afraid to ask for tips, there are fans out there who would be more than happy to tip you for your work.

You can also “fundraise” a content idea, for example you could say, “I’m planning on creating a 15 minute dinner and dessert recipe video but it requires special equipment. Can I get $200 in tips to help with production? If I can get $200 in tips I’ll post the video for free for all my fans to see!”

Another great way to make money with tips on Fanvue is by selling custom content or even physical goods (i.e. signed clothing, merchandise etc.). Just tell your customers to leave a tip, including their shipping address and the product they want.

For example a customer might tip you $25 for a branded t-shirt via the messages, the message includes their name and address, so you package and ship the t-shirt off to your fan.

Helpful Fanvue Tips

Below are some useful tips to help you build a successful Fanvue account.

Create a Promotional Introduction video

Create a promotional video that can be viewed by anyone who comes across your profile. To do this go to “Settings”, then scroll down to “Intro Video”.

Here you can upload your introduction video as long as it doesn’t contain nudity or explicit content and is less than 30 seconds long.

This will help you gain more subscribers since your fans can know what to expect when they subscribe to your account.

Pre-make and Pre-load your content

Create your content in bulk and upload it to the Vault. This will make it easier for you to post on a regular basis since you won’t have to be making content on the spot consistently.

For example you could create a batch of content including 10 photos and 8 videos and upload it to your vault.

When you want to release a piece of content, click on “New Post” and click on the photo icon to access the vault and post one of your pre-uploaded content pieces.

Engage with your fans

Don’t forget to engage with your fans regularly, ask questions on your feed, send random mass messages and run regular polls to see what content they want to see.

If you connect with your fans, they’re more likely to continue their subscription at the end of the month.

Listen to feedback

Finally, listen to feedback from your fans, find out what they like the most about your profile and respond to their private messages. Since your fans are paying to view your profile, they’re feedback is valuable, it will let you know what to work on the most.

Promote your Fanvue account

If you choose to make your account discoverable, you’ll already be visible to other users on the platform.

However the marketing doesn’t stop there, you have multiple ways to promote your Fanvue account.

Offer a discount for new fans

Offering a discount or free trial is a good way to get new subscribers for your account.

To do this, go to “Settings”, the “Creator Settings” and choose an account promotional offer. For example you could offer a 7 day free trial for the next 30 subscribers.

Offering a free trial will help you to convert your hesitant fans into subscribers.

Use social media

Social media is one of the ebay ways to promote your Fanvue account, if you already have a large following you can post your link in your profile or story.

If you don’t have a large following you can pay social media users with large followings to promote your Fanvue account on their stories and posts.

Look for influencers who are in the same niche or one that is very similar and send them a message offering to pay for promotion of your Fanvue account. Expect to pay from $25 – $50 for accounts with 100,000 followers.

Fanvue is a great alternative to OnlyFans for creators, if you want to succeed on the platform take advantage of it’s discover feature, post regularly and promote your account through social media.
